Tenerife hosts one of the world's great observatories for a reason: at 2,000+ metres, above the cloud layer and with strict light-pollution laws, the night sky over Teide is extraordinary. Stargazing tours leave the southern resorts in the late afternoon, stop for sunset above the sea of clouds, then set up telescopes in the national park while an astronomer guide walks you through planets, nebulae and constellations with a laser pointer. Most run 5–6 hours and include dinner or a glass of cava depending on the tier. We match you with a licensed operator and you pay them directly.

Who it's for (and who it isn't)
Couples (it is genuinely romantic), families with kids old enough to stay up, and anyone who has never seen the Milky Way from a dark site. Not ideal for very young children given the late finish, and skip the dinner tier if you are on a tight budget — the stars are the same on the standard tour.
Honest tips before you book
- Book around the new moon if you can — a full moon washes out the Milky Way (but is spectacular for lunar close-ups through the telescope).
- Dress for near-zero wind chill: the crater at night is cold even in August.
- The dinner versions are worth it if you did not plan a mountain restaurant otherwise.
- Do not schedule it the night before an early flight.
